South Island to North Island via ferry

New Zealand is a country divided into two islands, North and South. (We live on the South Island.) People fly or take the ferry to travel from one to the other. The ferry cost us NZ $240 for car and two people, one-way. Not cheap! The three hour route from Picton to Wellington:

We drove five hours from Christchurch to Picton, which turned out to be an adorable city:

Finally the ferry arrived:

Time to board and find a seat:

What would it be like to have a bach along the remote coastline?

Arrival. Wellington Is New Zealand’s capital. Its nickname is Windy Wellie. We enjoyed our brief stay in this harbor city of 400,000.
